VGDJ: Episode #005

This week on the show all about the music and community of OverClocked ReMix:

This week the VGDJ's were faced with the unfortunate reality that hard drives are not as robust as we'd like to think they are; we lost all the original recording and various sources for editing this weeks podcast to the best we can. Turns out Aurora had some of the samples still kicking around, and this is the best she could do given the circumstances...
Video Game content is getting lots of coverage. Rayza and Aurora talk about other VG podcasts, Scrapped Mine and an interesting project. We review BogusRed and chthonic, Rama's back with his report, and Aurora misses reading stuff.

ENJOY!

Just listened. I'm a little sad that no one else has commented about your last couple shows. I just discovered this today and listened to all your shows. Nice work.

Nice shout-out about C64/SID stuff. I have HVSC (High Voltage SID Collection) on my hard drive and occasionally dig it out.

Show was a little hard to follow without the shownotes (sorry!), but it was good. I didn't notice the mic problems too much, so that was good.

Keep it up!

Hey I just listened to the show finally. It was a lot better than I expected and the volumes of our voices weren't as off as I thought they would be. Though I think I should turn mine up, im just being really careful about clipping. Anyhow yeh, great work.

I guess we'll have to use that opening for now until I make a new one or something, and that will get done after I get some software back.. Bleah..

I liked the stinger too hah. Does anyone ever listen that far cuz no one really mentions them.

Also, you encoded at 128kbps, I usually do it at 64kbps. Sounds good tho, maybe we should bump it up somewhere inbetween like 112 or 96? Anyhow, good stuff. See ya..

I listen through the whole thing. They're a little something random to close out with; I like it.

As for the encoding, I made a post concerning that in the OCR forum. You really should consider using Ogg Vorbis; VBR is generally better than CBR, especially since these streams are being downloaded rather than streamed online. Ogg Vorbis does VBR quite well, and most media players will play .ogg files. Of course, iPods can't, so that's the downside. If you do have to stick with MP3, 96kpbs should be fine. But you did just fine with the 64kpbs.

Hey you two, just heard your show at work today and with every show, I likes ya better and better.

In answer to the question Aurora posed on the show, I initially found out about VGDJ.net on OCRemix while perusing the listings of the new songs. I believe that DJ Pretzel mentioned you within the comments on the song "Seized with Fury" by housethegrate.

Honestly, when I first heard VGDJ, I didn't much care for it. But after 5 episodes and now that my initial territorial instincts died down a bit, you've got yourselves a fan.

Hey Rayz... i only encoded it as 128 because I didn't know what I was doing... I don't mind the 64bit encoding like you do... I think we should keep the file sizes down as much as possible. the 64bit doesn't really lend to any loss of quality all that much.

wow... someone actually reads djp's reviews?! MY WORD! hahaha j/k... ya i love his reviews, and I knew he had written about us but I had just forgotten...

Yay people are posting here! :D
