On hiatus...
Dear listeners,
Okay, so we have some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that VGDJ is about to take a break for a little while. The good news, however, is that we will be back... and hopefully with more interviews and special features than ever. For all you die-hard fans out there, however, we feel that an explanation is in order:
This week we were planning on doing an episode entirely devoted to the new Sonic 3 & Knuckles project: "Project Chaos." We came up with some very fun ideas for an interview with one of the project leaders, including a detailed "game show" type quiz with musical examples and sound effects. To make a long story short, of the two people who were involved in the projects' direction, neither showed up for the interview even after they agreed on a time and promised to be there.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time something like this has happened; we have been stood up by people in the past, including a certain female remixer that was supposed to star on Episode #065: Chicks in the Mix. Frankly, this is somewhat hurtful and insulting to us. We invest an enormous amount of our time per week on this show- not just one or two days. Because it takes a lot of work to put together an episode, we literally have to plan our lives around things like interviews and special features, so when other people don't even give us the courtesy of telling us they'll be late (or not show up at all), it's extremely frustrating.
This podcast exists to promote the community of OverClocked Remix and the individuals who comprise it. We're offering our fellow musicians an incredible opportunity for publicity, and being repeatedly snubbed. Doesn't that speak something? Why should we have to come after people, even nag them, to get them to follow through? It's simply not worth the effort on our part.
Additionally, while we have fun releasing a weekly show, we also don't want to burn out... and we don't want YOU guys to burn out. After all, if you think about it, TV shows don't run a new episode every single week- maybe half the weeks in a year, tops. So, while this Project Chaos episode was a catalyst for our decision to take a break, it wasn't the only factor.
We'll still be here on the forums and on IRC, of course. And we do really appreciate all of you who listen to the show, have donated money, bought a t-shirt, left us a voicemail, clicked on our ads (when we still had 'em), sent us feedback, or even just voted for us on podcastalley. You're the ones that make this show worth doing. We just need a breather.
Perhaps when we get back from this break, the OCR community will have a little more respect for VGDJ... maybe even be excited at the prospect of a fresh episode? Until then: take care, guys!

28 Gain:
Thats a dirty shame. You guys rock at doing what you do, and don't deserve this. I commend you, Zircon and Pixie, for your continuing dedication to VGDJ. You really do deserve a rest to sort things out. Keep up the awesome work! =)
We'll be here! :)
I'm very sorry to hear about being snubbed. Considering what you mentioned here as well as in the past about your respective schedules, the two of you deserve a break (as others are also saying).
Rest with the angels for now - we'll patiently wait for more zircontricks-brand (zixietricks? Or just zircon and pixietricks, the Dynamic Duo of Podcasting?) VGDJ goodness.
See you soon!
Wow, that's nasty, Can't wait for you guys to be back! That being said, take as long of a break as you feel the need, We'll be here for when you get back!
ps. Got my hand signed envelope and VGDJ pin yesterday! Thanks much!
:(
Boo to the Project Chaos team for not showing up for their interview. Some people are so unreliable, unlike our beloved VGDJ hosts. Do what you guys need to do. Spend more time together, remix more, concentrate on school, take a tour of rural New Zealand, whatever works for you. You guys deserve a break, and thanks again for all you've done on VGDJ and OCRemix as a whole.
I'll miss the podcast and will be awaiting your return. Mondays will suck more than usual now, but I'll cope somehow. Maybe I'll listen to all the back episodes.
Who those do more things happens, are the same person to deserve break time. And you do much. At the same time, are this people that we are missing much more.
So, congratulations for so good work here, on vgdj and everything connected, until now and better going on, take a vaccation, let your brain empty a little (to fill with another ideas rss) and the back will be very soon, youll see, becouse you go miss we too!
I am going now and late downloading the #66 videocast.. Bad boy, late with my homework.. See ya soon :)
I guess this might actually a blessing in disguise for me...now I finally have time to catch up! ;)
I'm sorry that they did that to you, it's awful that they might just think it's okay to not just show up. Especially with all the work you guys do around your personal lives, to do the show.
I love listening to you both every week, it's really a treat, and I always look forward to it. But I also don't want you two to be frustrated, and unhappy, and to do the show when these kind of things happen.
Please rest, relax, and do what you need to do.. And take all the time off that you need. Us listeners will always be here to support you guys. Good luck with everything! :D
Rest assured, you've got a great amount of respect from your listeners. Sorry to hear you got ditched, but I'm left with a big question mark as to why, specifically because you mention you had already agreed on a time and place. Well, if they can't care enough to publicize Project Chaos, it looks as if you don't need to worry about it...
I'll check back regularly to wait for your comeback! And what a great season premiere it will be.
It's too bad that things aren't going smoothly. Your show is something I always listen to while at work, and I must say, I'm going to miss you guys until you return. Your commentaries are something I look forward to hearing on a weekly basis.
But you are totally deserving of a break. Take care!
I think you're the greatest. Thank you so much for everything. Good luck.
btw, i'm a little 'drunk', sorry for any spelling mistakes. I wish my relationships were as sucessful as pixie's and zircon's.
'Love',
From Dave (an Aussie!)
I'm saddened by this. Here's to hoping they're back soon.

Hmm... sounds like you guys are going for a rather long time. I think we listeners can wait for a month or two for a new episode; you VGDJ hosts can have your long Christmas and New Year holiday :D
I wish Santa will you give the nicest present this year! After all, both of you have been good, haven't you? :o

I love you VGDJ, and will await your return! :D
Aw. This is really sad news indeed. :(
Putting being stood up aside, I do think that you guys need to take some time off, though. You deserve the breather. Both of you have been doing some amazing work for the past few months.
Before you go on a break, I hope that there'll be at least a videocast about MAGfest or something. I really want to see what goes on in there.
I'll be patiently waiting for the next update. Until then, don't be discouraged. As you've noticed, VGDJ has been the number 1 podcast numerous times. You've earned our respect.
Oh, we'll definitely do some really good MAGFest coverage, but that's not gonna be until *after* the break, considering the event isn't till January. We're on break now, silly. ^-^
Thanks for all the hard work you guys do. I, like most people, completly understand why your taking a break. You deserve it. Great episode after amazing episode after great episode...you need a break.
Everybody needs to take a break now and then. And, comon, it's Chirstmas (month)! Everybody is runing around doing what needs to be done (and not done).
Plus, considering you said you'd cover Magfest which is January 7th, that's only 4 saturdays away!
I REALLY enjoy listening to your guy's episodes, and find it really really sad that some people just don't respect you.
I really wanted to hear a episode devoted to the Sonic ReMix project - It wouldve been one of the best episodes!
And again, thanks SO MUCH for all the work you do.
I have this happen to me all the time, and it is awful. I'm glad you stuck with the show to this point despite being stood up before. Looking forward to listening when you're back.
A few months ago, I had an extra ticket for Play! A Video Game Symphony, on July 27, in Philadelphia. It was worth $80, and I called someone to offer it to them, FOR FREE. He said he thought he could come but couldn't commit until the Tuesday before the Thursday concert.
Guess what? He never called back, and the $80 ticket was wasted. I never heard from him again. A FREE TICKET! I was going to mail the ticket to Zircon and tell him to use it to cover the concert for VGDJ if the friend declined. Instead, this idiot who used to be my friend couldn't even give me the courtesy of calling me back to decline the $80 ticket that I offered him for free. It was too late by then and the ticket was wasted.
People like him will never get very far in life. You, on the other hand, have thousands of listeners to your show and are admired by many. Don't let these people get you down!
Awwwwwww....VGDJ....You can't leave me.....Just after all the awesomeness you guys put into the videocast, You're so awesome at what you do and you even inspired me to get a co-host for my own podcast, which we get on awesomely as he's my best friend ^^. But yeah....I Can't live without VGDJ....so i hope you're back real soon, also i got my VGDJ things through the post the other day :D, but until you're back i'll just go over the archives ^_^
Have a good break and i hope you'll be back soon ^^
^^ Dan ^^
I'll eagerly await your return.
My Zircon lies over the ocean
My Pixie lies over the sea
My Zircon lies over the ocean
bring back VGDJ to me

bring back VGDJ to me
to me
I will weep daily 'til your return
I miss your podcast (wondered why iTunes was no longer updating the feed), but I await eagerly for your return.
No rush, though - Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!
I miss you guys! Come back soon!
Damn, that really sucks guys. I like listening to these when i get a chance. Enjoy your break though, and I hope that you don't give up on this project, not everyone is as crappy as those that snubbed you.
Hey guys I'm really sorry to hear that you keep getting the shaft. I started listening to the podcast about 2 weeks ago and I love it. You guys do an amazing job and I'm so totally entertained with the shows so I hope you come back soon. Keep up the good work!
