VGDJ: Shownotes #016
[00:40] Whiteraven...eat your heart out :)
[01:06] Labour Day Weekend, YAYAY! ... Ah the long weekend... 3 days off to party... well, if you remember that its a long weekend, that is....
[01:36] Hurricane Katrina... terrible, terrible things happening down there. Wanna do your part in helping out the efforts along the devistated communities along the Gulf Coast? The Hitman has thoughtfully started an OCR Relief Effort thread in hopes that the OCR community will do what it does best - band together- to raise money for the Red Cross. He also includes other charities that you may wish to donate to... also, if you are an iTunes Music Store goer, you'll have noticed the donation ad... you can also donate through there as well. Any amount is paramount.
[03:04] WHOOPS. We forgot: THE OCR IDOL CHAMPION: Hemophiliac! Yo Hemo, let us know what you get as a prize!
[04:04] PODCAST ALLEY has RESET THE VOTES! Podcast Alley is the #1 place for all things podcasts, and also has the most respected ranking system for podcasts in the world right now. Every month, they reset the vote count for each podcast so that new ones can have a chance at being at the top. VOTING for VGDJ is the easiest, cheapest way ($0.00 :D) for you to support our show... so far (as of 7:48 CST September 4th) we're sitting at 31... which is awesome! (pssssssssssst but it could be higher! hehehe) Your vote really helps! Thanks to all those who have voted this month!
[05:17] ReMiX OUR INTRO: Kevin "Lorenzo" Sisk (aka debeerguy007) provided us with a tribute to the intro that Rayza the Magnificent came up with when we first starting doing this humble show... we play the tribute (THANKS KEVIN! that was kick ass!) and talk about a new idea... We're thinking of changing up our intro, in the mean time, if you guys have ideas for what you'd like the intro to sound like, or you wanna ReMix our current intro, we're now accepting submissions! Be creative! There's only a few guidelines: 45 seconds MAX, has to have VGDJ and OCReMix mentioned in there somewhere...and that's about it! Send your submissions to vgdjpodcast@gmail.com ... have fun with this!
[08:05] Beatdrop is in the process of producing his first official 2 CD album called Everlast... all out of his own pocket! (now that's dedication) I couldn't find a recent web link for this but when I do I'll come back and edit this... Yo Beatdrop... hook me up, man! Make sure you come back and get the info... Beatdrop has some great stuff... i'm looking forward to his album!
[08:53] To make up for last week's mess up, we present to you José the Bronx Rican, talking about his latest ReMix (which we featured last week and you can hear in the background!) 'Corner of Sunset and Keys' from Revenge of Shinobi
[10:52] ReMix Review: From DooM: 'Ghosts of Mars' by Mythril Nazgul ... We had Myth on a couple of weeks ago talking about the DooM: Dark Side of Phobos ReMix Project that he coordinated... he comes back for some specifics on the mix.
[15:12] ReMix Review: From Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee: 'The Monsaic' by TO ... we messed up on the outtake of this song... but I just want to mention: I REALLY dig this track. Definitely check it out if you're into Ambient... Nice Work, TO!
[17:42] ReMix Review: From Artura: 'Dublin Delight' by Makke ... Thanks for getting us a clip! Love the accent (what's new? I love accents... *sigh*) ... Makke talks about his soon to be released album entitled: It's Binary, Baby!, and his upcoming appearance at the C64 Retro Concert in Copenhagen, November 5th, 2005, arranged by Press Play on Tape ... sounds like an AMAZING event, so if you're in the area DEFINITELY check it out... I wish I could attend! (anyone want to buy me some airplane tickets?)
[21:51] Speaking of C64 games, we thought we'd make mention of another fantastic podcast dedicated to VG music and rearrangements: The C64 Take-Away, hosted by Jan Lund Thomsen. This podcast features C64 original music and remixes exclusively... give it a listen!
[23:21] The Rama Report, brought to you by ThaSauce, which continues on with the adventures of aweful recordings... THIS WEEK: August Dwelling of Duels competition is complete, which featured racing game ReMixes... winners have been announced! The parody competition, Dwelling of the Fools, is also complete! Kwed and C64audio.com announce new site layouts...
[26:21] Russian ReMix Roulette: Random song picked from OverClocked Remix's front page feature. Aurora wins this week with a ROLL of ONE... This week's track was from Final Fantasy IX: 'Shepherd Won't Alone' by Tuba Lin.
[32:08] Happy Birthday [-Smoke-]! Make sure to come visit us in the IRC channel! Keep your eye out for pixietricks at the opera! Good Luck in your audition! Aurora got to chat with McVaffe who provides some feedback about the show... Do you have anything you want to say about the show and how we could change it/spice it up? (look at the bottom of the shownotes each week for information on how to get in touch with us!) Any/all questions, comments are welcome (except for how to get into Aurora's pants...that was answered in Episode 002) ... Replacement for Aurora?
[37:26] VOICEMAILZ! Thanks to MagiNinjA, Joelle (Rayza's girl), and a cat!
