VGDJ: Shownotes #026
[00:00] Gobble gobble!
[01:09] What's that? A new remixing contest forum is coming to OverClocked ReMix? Why, how exciting! Like PRC, ORC, and TOMC, this new contest will be open to all for submissions (and for voting!!). Entries will be based on some sort of source tune or thematic idea, although we aren't sure of the format yet. But stayed tuned!
[01:31] Just a little reminder that Chrono Symphonic is, once again, shooting for a November release! Celebrating the 10th anniversary of Chrono Trigger, this site project will feature a compilation of remixes in the vein of an orchestral movie soundtrack. Until its official release, you can check out the website, or visit Zeality's Chrono Compendium where he has done a special feature on the project, including some sweet remixer interviews!
[02:23] Looks like some dude over at Something Awful caught on to the OCReMix scene...only...backwards? Instead of remixing videogame tunes in new styles, he's covered popular songs in the style of the old NES sound fonts. Tracks include Sweet Home Alabama, Bohemian Rhapsody, Stairway to Heaven, Karma Police, and much more! Check it out, yo.
[03:05] The ex-Video Games Live Washington D.C. meet-up approaches with speed and stealth! Saturday, December 3rd, 2:00 pm at the Foggy Bottom metro station (Blue and Orange Lines) at 23rd and I-- be there or be square! (Come on, don't you want to meet meeee? djpretzel?) XD
[04:04] As you may have noticed, Aurora couldn't make it for this week's show. Why? She has just moo-vee'ed to Toronto for her new job as a weather girl! Soon you may not just be listening to her sexay voice on VGDJ, but watching the whole her on television! (OMGDROOLX0R)
[05:02] What's new in the world of OCR's remixing competitions? Cyan_Ide's weekly report tells all. But don't be afraid to see for yourself: ORC34 (the last one), ORC35 (the newer one), TOMC7, and PRC55. Listen, vote, get involved! ^_^
[7:13] ReMix Review: From Zelda 3: 'A Rose for Zelda' by Tepid ... Newcomer Tepid brings us a lovely guitar arrangement of Zelda's theme. Accoustic for the first two minutes but then breaking into some layered electrics and ambience, this mix truly "blooms" with emotion. Nice work!
[9:30] ReMix Review: From Street Fighter Alpha 2: 'Dan's Ice Cream Truck' by Joshua Morse and po!... Can you dig it? Funky, jazzy, and entirely appropriate for a late-night cruise in Baltimore, this remix has some true groove. Gimme some of your sweet sugah, Dan the ice cream man!
[11:04] Rama Report? ...Well, sorta... Visit Tha Sauce if you want some *real* info, eh?
[12:17] Russian Remix Roulette: Random song(SSSS) picked from OverClocked ReMix's front page feature... Double your pleasure, double your fun; this week we play *two* songs to make up for the new mix shortage. Rayza and Pixie tie for bLiNd's track with a numero THREE, and then another roll of ONE gets the second tune. Ladies and gentlemen, please ready your ears for Starfox 'Space Cowboys' by bLinD and Donkey Kong Country 'ChristmasCave' by deim0s.
[20:56] It's the most fattening time of the yearrrrr... And in the spirit of Thanksgiving, we're playing a couple poems sent in by our listeners. The first, by none other than last week's Blessing Candy woman, is called "Ode to VGDJ." (Translation courtesy of Multibabel.) And next, Prince Azuzu brings us "Thanksgiving Feast" all the way from his home in Kenya. Thank you both! <3 <3 <3
[23:55] For a very good time, tune in to Very Good Music, Friday nights at 10 p.m. EST. D-Lux takes requests through irc.enterthegame.com #vgm, and if you're lucky he'll even sing along! Rayza and I listened to last week's show until after 2 in the morning. o_O And of course there's always VG Frequency with crazy Larry the Liontamer on Saturdays nights as well.
[25:38] Live menage-a-trois this January at the Toronto meet-up? You betcha! Well, show, that is... Anyway, have a lovely holiday if you're celebrating, and safe travels!
[27:57] VOICEMAILZ: Vilarius(?), Arek..
[29:21] [stinger]
