VGDJ: Shownotes #019

[01:28] A little clarification: last week on the show, we mentioned that OverClocked ReMix will be having another lockdown soon. It was brought to our attention that our explanation of this event could have been misleading, though. So here you have the word-by-word definition. Sorry 'bout that! ^_~
[02:56] Claado Shou gives us the dig on the Chrono Symphonic project, celebrating the 10th anniversary of Chrono Trigger with a compilation of remixes in the vein of an orchestral movie soundtrack. We're looking at an early to mid-October project release! More to come later, but if you think you could provide a mirror for the music, let Claado know in the project thread. We needs j00.
[06:33] What's new in the OCR remixing competition world? Here's a little inside scoop from cyan_ide...and his hot maid, who's vacuuming his room in the background. Thanks, dude! For more info, check out PRC (People's Remix Competition), ORC (Original Remix Competition), and TOMC (Thematic Original Music Competition). Fun for everyone. XD
[10:12] Help keep the new listeners coming by voting for VGDJ on Podcast Alley each month! On our main page, you'll see an email input on the right-hand side of the window. Just type, click submit, and confirm your vote through email. It's that easy. ^o^
[11:09] Rayman and his trusty sidekick, Pixalilin, bring you clips of this week's new OCReMixes.
ReMix Review
: From Solstice: 'Pegasus Boots' by Shnabubula ... After recently leaving the judges panel, Shna has a new mix posted. Hooray! This is the first Solstice remix on OCR, and it's pretty darn good. (But what *is* it?) Fi, fy, fo, fum: I hear saxes, bells, and drums. Thanks for the clip, Sam
[13:39] ReMix Review: From Pac-Man: 'Glass Cage' by Israfel ... After almost a year's absence, Israfel brings us this sweet orchestral mix. Nice job on the percussion, man! Reminds me of some of Steve Reich's work, with all that trance-enducing repetition in the marimba line. But I guess the direct influence was from John Cage? Well, that works, too. Awesome job all around.
[15:52] ReMix Review: From Secret of Mana: 'Dragon Song' by Harmony ... Download. This. Now. That's all I'm going to say. :*)
[19:41] OMG Ramalamadingdong Report?!!! Rama manages to sound nasty on his new mic and talks about hellven and a compo on Anime Remix. For more thingadings, visit thasauce.net.
[21:00] Russian Remix Roulette: Random song picked from OverClocked ReMix's front page feature. VGDJ history was made this week, as we were forced to re-roll after landing on Dhsu's recent Castlevania 3 mix, 'A Clockwork Vampire', which was featured on last week's show. So pixie won it in the end with a number TWO! This week's roulette song is Lemmings: 'LoungeLemmings' by Mazedude.
[27:18] (...Rayza made me do it. o_O) OverLooked ReMiX proudly presents... Final Fantasy- The Million Man Mix, a project WIP that will (hopefully) feature the voices of 24 different people humming the FF1's opening theme. They have 17 recruits so far. Could YOU be next?
[28:54] 1-800-990-VGDJ: the bipolar episodes.
[31:59] Cyan_Ide and Rayza are starting a great new podcast soon! Here's a preview!
[34:04] Hold on to your pants, because Rayza and pixie...weren't wearing any this week? Ummm.... And with that, pixietricks bids you adieu, as this was her last show. Colon, left parenthesis. (But you can always hear her at www.fayhaven.com, of course!)
[37:37] VOICEMAIL: MaGiNinja, hanpusukun, CHz, Michael Ritchie and Arcana - you rock!

VGDJ: Shownotes #018

[00:10] Mixin' it up with a new intro clip from snooper_1989. Dude...nice work! For anybody else who wants to give VGDJ's intro a little facelift, there's still time! Email your submission to vgdjpodcast@gmail.com
[02:53] This week we hear some parting words from OCReMix judges Danny Beeeeeee and Shnabubula, who have recently left the panel. Again, thank you both for your awesome contributions to the site. Keep your eyes peeled for more of their remixes, and perhaps some Hollywood film scores from Mr. Baranowsky? Hey, anything goes. ^_~
[08:28] Videogames Live is coming to a city near you; get your tickets while they last. (OCR meet anybody? Anybody?)
[09:30] Save us some bandwidth by downloading VGDJ through torrent, recently provided by resident audio guy Compyfox. And if you're sexually frustrated, well, you can give us your seed... (Rayza Edit: Yeh I got the pack #'s wrong.. Sue me..)
[10:25] Get your butt on IRC and chat with the VGDJ hosts, guests, and fellow listeners. You can get there via irc.engerthegame.com #vgdj, or (for those less experienced, or just lazy...?) through Java at http://www.vgdj.net/irc.
[12:07] Japanese animation + ocremixes = yowzah. Check out AMV Weekend, September 22-25 in Atlanta, Georgia. Anime music videos set to tracks by various artists of the videogame music community. And...Y'know..."other" songs, but we don't care about those, right? ^_~ Thanks for the heads up, Teknoboy!
[14:20] Lockdown poo poo.
[15:46] ReMix Review: From Kirby's Adventure: 'The Ballad of Sir Kibbles' by Suzembachi ... Woah, this guy hasn't had any mixes posted in over 2 years, and suddenly he's back! That just goes to show how awesome OCR really is, huh? This song is featured on the Rise of the Star Project, among a plethora of other sweet Kirby tunes. Synth, piano, guitars, and strings abound.
[18:04] ReMix Review: From Castlevania 3: 'A Clockwork Vampire' by Dhsu ... A 'haunting' (ahahaha) piano solo arrangement from Dhsu- how could you go wrong? Kick. Butt.
[21:32] ReMix Review: From Zelda: Link's Awakening: 'It's My Turn to Dream' by chthonic ... NRG! Check out this classy dance track by 'thonic.' I guess we don't pronounce the 'ch' eh? With plenty of variation in arrangement and instrumentation to keep things interesting, this isn't your typical background trance. Solid.
[24:03] (Drumroll, please...) Say goodbye to dishwashers, tin cans, Tibetan throat singers, and Niagra Falls, baby: Rama bought a new mic! We present to you the new Rama Report, in all its shining glory. Wanna know more? Keep yourself posted on what's going on in the remixing community at http://www.thasauce.net
[26:04] Kay, it's time for da Russian Remix Roulette: Random song picked from OverClocked ReMix's front page feature. This week Rayza gets the winning roll, with...ANOETHR FIVE ZOMG!!!1 We bring to you Sonic the Hedgehog 3: 'Snow Motion' by SkyHigh.
[32:38] Linkman17, it's your time. Welcome to OCR. And your friend Barcola, too! ^o^
[33:23] VGM. Viable Green Mortal? Verticle Grass Mansions? Nooooo... It's Very Good Music! Check out D-Lux (i.e. Steven King)'s new show at www.wvud.org, live on Fridays from 10pm-12am EST.
[35:05] Wow, debeerguy007, j00 rock. And uh...roffling waffle bots? o_O
[40:41] OKAY EVERYBODY LISTEN TO RAYZA'S HOT NEW TRACK, 'BORN WITH THE 3 INCHES'!!! RIGHT NOW. KBYE.
[43:20] Voicemail: Thanks Linearity, Necrotic, Arcana, GSlicer, Fusion2004 and CHz for the calls.

VGDJ: Shownotes #017

[01:07] Wedding duty? Pixietricks sits in for Aurora, who will be away for a couple weeks helping her sis prepare for marriage. Congratulations!
[02:22] Rayza's pimpin' da ladies through VGDJ - and we thought this was a non-profit organization! >:p
[03:21] An article on videogame remixing was released at 1up.com this week. Featuring an interview with our very own DJP, this thing's jam packed with goodies for any fan of the scene. Read up!
[04:11] A sad farewell to OCR judges Daniel Baranowsky and Shnabubula. We didn't hear of Shna's departure until after the show was recorded, but that doesn't mean we don't love him. Feel free to stop by at the forum thread to express your appreciation for these two radical guys. They will be missed!
[05:16] Rayza takes some time to explain a little bit about how the show is recorded, and once again, the B cities of America are muddled and confused. Canadians - what the hey! XD
[07:31] ReMix Review: From Megaman: 'Electrolytic Man' by ambient, MaJIN_SaN, and tomatsu ... TEH three-way collaborating action, complete with strings, synths, a little breakbeat for you, and some beautiful piano work. MaJIN and ambient talk a little about the mix, but tomatsu is Japanese and thus couldn't produce a clip. Hey, no complaints here. Nihonjin no hito wa suteki desu! <3 style="font-weight: bold;">[12:46] ReMix Review: From Guardian Legend: 'The Legend of Lightning Larry' by zyko. Awesome work from one of OCR's most well-known guitarists. We heart wakachika!
[16:27] With no Rama Report, and little new going on in the community, we bring you the Russian Remix Roulette: Random song picked from OverClocked ReMix's front page feature. Pixietricks gets the music she so desires after rolling numba five, and we bring to you King of Fighters 98: 'Ghetto Recursive' by djpretzel.
[21:02] Rayza has a small penis. (Rayza Edit: No.)
[21:21] Arcana and Aurora call in with a little 1-800 # dual duel debate. Who is the most desirable (or attainable?) woman on OCR? Stay tuned for a mud wrestling/opera match at the next Toronto meet! ^o^
[28:15] Pixie finds comfort in Rayza's flatulence? Don't be too hard on this VirGinDJ; she has big shoes to fill.
[30:44] VOICEMAILZ: Thanks MaJIN_SaN, Arcana and JaSonic Hedgie for all da love.

VGDJ: Shownotes #016

[00:40] Whiteraven...eat your heart out :)
[01:06] Labour Day Weekend, YAYAY! ... Ah the long weekend... 3 days off to party... well, if you remember that its a long weekend, that is....
[01:36] Hurricane Katrina... terrible, terrible things happening down there. Wanna do your part in helping out the efforts along the devistated communities along the Gulf Coast? The Hitman has thoughtfully started an OCR Relief Effort thread in hopes that the OCR community will do what it does best - band together- to raise money for the Red Cross. He also includes other charities that you may wish to donate to... also, if you are an iTunes Music Store goer, you'll have noticed the donation ad... you can also donate through there as well. Any amount is paramount.
[03:04] WHOOPS. We forgot: THE OCR IDOL CHAMPION: Hemophiliac! Yo Hemo, let us know what you get as a prize!
[04:04] PODCAST ALLEY has RESET THE VOTES! Podcast Alley is the #1 place for all things podcasts, and also has the most respected ranking system for podcasts in the world right now. Every month, they reset the vote count for each podcast so that new ones can have a chance at being at the top. VOTING for VGDJ is the easiest, cheapest way ($0.00 :D) for you to support our show... so far (as of 7:48 CST September 4th) we're sitting at 31... which is awesome! (pssssssssssst but it could be higher! hehehe) Your vote really helps! Thanks to all those who have voted this month!
[05:17] ReMiX OUR INTRO: Kevin "Lorenzo" Sisk (aka debeerguy007) provided us with a tribute to the intro that Rayza the Magnificent came up with when we first starting doing this humble show... we play the tribute (THANKS KEVIN! that was kick ass!) and talk about a new idea... We're thinking of changing up our intro, in the mean time, if you guys have ideas for what you'd like the intro to sound like, or you wanna ReMix our current intro, we're now accepting submissions! Be creative! There's only a few guidelines: 45 seconds MAX, has to have VGDJ and OCReMix mentioned in there somewhere...and that's about it! Send your submissions to vgdjpodcast@gmail.com ... have fun with this!
[08:05] Beatdrop is in the process of producing his first official 2 CD album called Everlast... all out of his own pocket! (now that's dedication) I couldn't find a recent web link for this but when I do I'll come back and edit this... Yo Beatdrop... hook me up, man! Make sure you come back and get the info... Beatdrop has some great stuff... i'm looking forward to his album!
[08:53] To make up for last week's mess up, we present to you José the Bronx Rican, talking about his latest ReMix (which we featured last week and you can hear in the background!) 'Corner of Sunset and Keys' from Revenge of Shinobi
[10:52] ReMix Review: From DooM: 'Ghosts of Mars' by Mythril Nazgul ... We had Myth on a couple of weeks ago talking about the DooM: Dark Side of Phobos ReMix Project that he coordinated... he comes back for some specifics on the mix.
[15:12] ReMix Review: From Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee: 'The Monsaic' by TO ... we messed up on the outtake of this song... but I just want to mention: I REALLY dig this track. Definitely check it out if you're into Ambient... Nice Work, TO!
[17:42] ReMix Review: From Artura: 'Dublin Delight' by Makke ... Thanks for getting us a clip! Love the accent (what's new? I love accents... *sigh*) ... Makke talks about his soon to be released album entitled: It's Binary, Baby!, and his upcoming appearance at the C64 Retro Concert in Copenhagen, November 5th, 2005, arranged by Press Play on Tape ... sounds like an AMAZING event, so if you're in the area DEFINITELY check it out... I wish I could attend! (anyone want to buy me some airplane tickets?)
[21:51] Speaking of C64 games, we thought we'd make mention of another fantastic podcast dedicated to VG music and rearrangements: The C64 Take-Away, hosted by Jan Lund Thomsen. This podcast features C64 original music and remixes exclusively... give it a listen!
[23:21] The Rama Report, brought to you by ThaSauce, which continues on with the adventures of aweful recordings... THIS WEEK: August Dwelling of Duels competition is complete, which featured racing game ReMixes... winners have been announced! The parody competition, Dwelling of the Fools, is also complete! Kwed and C64audio.com announce new site layouts...
[26:21] Russian ReMix Roulette: Random song picked from OverClocked Remix's front page feature. Aurora wins this week with a ROLL of ONE... This week's track was from Final Fantasy IX: 'Shepherd Won't Alone' by Tuba Lin.
[32:08] Happy Birthday [-Smoke-]! Make sure to come visit us in the IRC channel! Keep your eye out for pixietricks at the opera! Good Luck in your audition! Aurora got to chat with McVaffe who provides some feedback about the show... Do you have anything you want to say about the show and how we could change it/spice it up? (look at the bottom of the shownotes each week for information on how to get in touch with us!) Any/all questions, comments are welcome (except for how to get into Aurora's pants...that was answered in Episode 002) ... Replacement for Aurora?
[37:26] VOICEMAILZ! Thanks to MagiNinjA, Joelle (Rayza's girl), and a cat!
